Every sign is a product of love and learning and we are proud of every sign we have provided to our customers (and the ones we keep!)
We start off by having a consultation with the customer (that's YOU!). We listen to what their vision is, where they would like it placed, if it's an indoor our outdoor sign, color schemes and size preferences. Based on these specs, we provide the price and send an invoice for the deposit and photo release. Our deposit policy is 25% for most pieces and 50% if there is customization.
Once we create a mockup, we provide it to the customer for approval (1-2 edits are included in the price) and then we are ready for the fun to begin!
Most of our signs are done on American Basswood. It is a pale wood with even shading that still pops when stain is applied. Customers can request a different wood for the carving during the consultation.
Depending on how large the sign will be, we may need to adhere multiple boards together. We sand the edges, apply a hefty wood glue and clamp the boards together to dry. Once it's dry, it is cut to the exact measurements needed for the sign and resanded.
We sketch the design onto the board and our master-crafter, Eric, gets to work! Multiple tools are utilized including routers, custom wood carving tools, wood burning tools, and sometimes even the hand torch (we really love those projects)! We provide progress pictures to the customer, as well as posting on social media for our followers.
During various stages of the process, there are stains and paint applied and allowed to dry.
Once the sign is completed and cured, we apply a varnish or polyurethane, attach hooks or loops for hanging, take the final presentation pictures, then deliver it with a smile!
